“…do good, be rich in good deeds, and be generous and willing to share…so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
1 Timothy 6:17-19 17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. Tithes & Offerings
“A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.”
Leviticus 27:30 “Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord's; it is holy to the Lord.” (ESV)
What is a tithe and how is it different from an offering? The word, “tithe” literally means tenth or 10%. A tithe is the first 10% of your income. An offering is anything you give above and beyond the 10%.
Tithing is a way to teach us that God must be our #1 priority. It’s in the Bible,
Deuteronomy 14:22-23 “You shall tithe all the yield of your seed that comes from the field year by year. 23 And before the Lord your God, in the place that he will choose, to make his name dwell there, you shall eat the tithe of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and flock, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.” (ESV) , TLB. “You must tithe all of your crops every year. Bring this tithe to eat before the Lord your God at the place He shall choose as His sanctuary; this applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn of your flocks and herds. The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives.”
Tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have. It is also God’s personal invitation to an outpouring of his blessing in your life
Malachi 3:10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (ESV)
|How do I calculate my tithe – what is 10% ( income X .10 = tithe )|
|annual income||weekly tithe||monthly tithe|
As the church acts as the body of Christ, each member contributes in a different aspect according to how he or she is gifted and blessed. As New Life United Pentecostal Church of Hastings helps to support and pour into a variety of instrumental ministries, you can contribute to these organizations outside the church by way of a monetary gift.
Missions and Outreach
Donations for Outreach are distributed to various partner ministries both locally and around the world. These funds will help meet physical needs and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Examples of this are supporting missionaries, supporting homeless and help to build churches.
